Dental braces – Only for kids? Think again

Dental braces – Only for kids? Think again

Posted on May 21, 2015

Braces – They’re something we typically associate with kids but here at NovaDental, we’re finding that more and more of our patients are asking us what they can do about their crooked smiles.

You’re certainly not alone if you fit into this category and you should know that many adults choose to straighten their teeth. After all, our smile massively impacts our looks and a lot of people find they struggle with self-confidence without a smile they’re happy to flash in photos and feel generally comfortable with.

The great news is that it’s not as complicated as you may think to straighten your smile as an adult. Two of the most popular options available in our clinics include:

Invisalign You probably would have heard or seen Invisalign advertised widely. As the name suggests, Invisalign treatment sees almost invisible braces being inserted into your mouth to correct any teeth that aren’t straight. The real benefit of Invisalign treatment lies in the fact that it’ll improve both the look of your teeth (no more crooked teeth!) as well as their function.

Cosmetic braces – If you’re not keen on Invisalign, cosmetic braces are light-coloured braces that are fixed to a limited number of both your upper and lower teeth for approximately 6 months. You may have heard about people and kids having to wear braces for around 2 years – Not with cosmetic braces. Just be aware that unlike Invisalign, they’re used for purely cosmetic reasons.

Here, we’ve looked at two of the more popular options when it comes to braces for adults. As with any dental treatment, you’ll need to speak with your dentist about which option best suits your needs and circumstances.

At the end of the day, your smile can really transform your appearance and it’s nowhere near as hard as people commonly think it is to rectify their crooked smile. Simply make an appointment at a NovaDental clinic today and you’ll be on your way to straighter teeth. Call 1300 549 750.
