By Dr Jon Kozeniauskas – Company Director/Consultant Senior Dentist
Having been involved in the dental industry for over 30 years now, I’ve seen my fair share of patients who need a solution to what is a very serious problem: Missing teeth.
As you can imagine, not having a full-set of healthy teeth really knocks people about. They lose their confidence, they don’t want to take photos at celebrations, they’ve developed the habit of putting their hands over their mouths… The more you think about it all, the more you can understand it.
The most common cases of tooth loss result from injury, disease as well as tooth decay. If a gap isn’t filled, the condition is likely to worsen which could lead to complications such as crowded teeth, a shrinking jawbone and so on.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing a patient who first came to see me with missing teeth, walking out with a set of pearly whites that makes them feel really confident with themselves again.
For me, with any patient, nothing is more important than education: Making sure people know and understand all of the options available to them so that they can make informed decisions.
When it comes to missing teeth, know that you have options. Upon visiting me, most people know all about dentures but few are up to speed on implants. Here, I’ll take a closer look at each, taking into account the most obvious advantages as well.
I’ll also be hosting a free information evening about implants at each clinic on the following dates:
- Monday, 1 st June – Hampton Park
- Tuesday, 2 nd June – Hoppers Crossing
- Tuesday, 9 th June – Wantirna
Each information session runs from 6:30pm to 8pm.
Feel free to come along and ask me any questions you’d like to (you can secure your position by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org – places are limited so please be quick).
If this time/date doesn’t suit, I do make myself available for free consultations as well so simply email the above address or call 1300 549 750 to make an appointment.
Otherwise known as false teeth, dentures are more common than implants as they’re a cheaper option. Generally made from a combination of metal and acrylic plastic, they’re designed to look and function like a real set of teeth.
They can be removed and given a thorough clean which is a really important part of maintaining your dentures.
Numerous types of dentures are available including:
- Complete or full dentures
- Partial dentures
- Implant-retained dentures
- Immediate dentures
You can read more about each type and a range of questions I’m commonly asked by patients by clicking here.
Because they are a little more complicated to explain and get your head around, as I mentioned earlier, I do host information sessions all about implants.
These sessions are free and there’s no obligation on your part upon attending.
To try and explain implants briefly, in a nutshell, they’re a permanent solution to tooth loss. We can’t offer a single price as to how much they cost as every patient’s needs are different.
I talk to a lot of patients who are sick of their dentures and are looking for a solution that better suits their lifestyle.
Upon visiting a NovaDental clinic, we’ll examine each patient’s circumstance factoring in things such as how many teeth need to be replaced, the most suitable implant type and so on.
This will also involve X-rays and an inspection of the mouth so that we can establish where teeth need to be replaced and the strength of the jaw bone.
From there, we can begin looking at some costs.
I can’t stress how important it is to have a discussion with your dentist if you are looking into dentures or implants. I’m very passionate about patient education because it’s so important people know what’s happening when it comes to necessary treatment and their oral health.
Forget about asking others, searching for information via Google and so on – Pick up the phone and make an appointment to speak to a NovaDental dentist today: 1300 549 750
