Dentures: The Real Stories

Dentures: The Real Stories

Posted on Nov 17, 2015 Dentures

If you jump onto Google and search for ‘dentures,’ you’re likely to find a heap of content that you’d expect to find: what they are, where you can get treatment, a heap of hints and tips…

While that’s all important information, what we’ve discovered here at NovaDental is that this is only part of the story. Sure, we could reel off a heap of information about dentures but for us, seeing the change in patients after dentures are inserted, is the real story.

Whenever people come to see us with missing teeth, they tend to have a number of things in common.

  • Daily habits such as eating and speaking are difficult for them.
  • They’ve lost their self-confidence to a degree. You’ll find they avoid photos or always keep their hand close to their mouth.

If you’re reading this and feeling as though we’ve just described you, know that change is possible. On the other hand, we also see patients who have lost their teeth gradually over time and because they’re so used to the change, they don’t realise how much better things could be for them.

Here at NovaDental, we’re keen to help people to change their lives for the better and you’d be amazed at the place oral health plays in your happiness. We’ve put together a checklist that’ll help you to determine whether it might be time to book an appointment with your dentist.

Answer yes or no to the following statements:

  • I struggle to chew harder foods (for example, meat) because of my teeth ____
  • I avoid taking photos because I’m conscious of my smile ____
  • Sometimes, I feel very self-conscious about how I speak ____

If you answered yes to any or all of these statements, it’s wise to investigate your options in relation to dentures. We find that before making that big decision to pay us a visit, a lot of people need to come to terms with the reality that they need dentures. Also, we see many patients who feel nervous about getting this.

All of these fears and any other questions are best addressed in an honest and open manner with your local NovaDental dentist. Take the first step towards changing your life and book an appointment with us today: 1300 486 400.
